The lagerstroemia ‘comanche’ is an excellent specimen, an upright growing shrub or small tree with a broad spreading crown known for its coral pink flowers. Its elliptic, dark green leaves start out as a light bronze and turn into an orange red to pruple red in the fall. They range from about 10 to 20 feet high with a canopy about 15 to 25 feet wide. As is well known with crape myrtles, the comanche is extremely heat and drought tolerant, as well as resistant to powdery mildew.
