The catawba , though very similar to the lagerstroemia, has dramatically different features. Lagerstroemia ‘indica’ shows off its brilliant violet purple flowers throughout spring and summer, and its beautiful red and orange leaves in the fall. This particular strain is a bit smaller than your typical crape myrtle, reaching a height of about 8 to 10 feet, it is really considered a dense shrub. As with all crape myrtles, full sun is best, and they are extremely drought and heat resistant.
