Though known to be somewhat delicate, the burgundy desert willow can withstand all the drought and heat Texas summers bring. The leaves are long and narrow, and the purple flowers resemble that of an orchid, blooming throughout spring and summer. The burgundy desert willow is very similiar to the native desert willow, its distinguishing characteristic being its much darker, purple flowers. Belonging to the same faimly as the native desert willow, the burgundy is NOT related to the weeping willow.
